Description:

The Certification Committee oversees the maintenance and expansion of the certification programs for the Greater Heartland Chapter.

Certification Committee members are knowledgeable, or willing to learn, about CHFP and CRC certification requirements and related learning opportunities within the chapter and on the HFMA website.

Activities:

  • Develop a certification plan for the chapter  
  • Promote certification opportunities
  • Answer member questions about certification and training
  • Hold one or more CHFP and CRC trainings each, per year, using a course coordinator/trainer
  • Work closely with the Enterprise and Education Committees to ensure that programs are aligned to support the goals of the Certification Committee
  •   Collaborate with the Communications Committee to highlight individuals that pass exams   

Time:

  • Average 1-2 hours quarterly, year round, with additional time for live certification events

KC Golf Tournament Subcommittee

Description:

The KC Golf Tournament Networking Committee plans the annual golf outing for the Greater Heartland Chapter in Kansas City.

KC Golf Tournament Networking Committee members are a mix of provider-related and non-provider-related individuals, ideally from the Kansas City and surrounding area. Networking committee, golf tournament, event planning, or sponsorship experience is helpful but NOT required.

Activities:

  • Plan and execute a full day golf tournament.
  • Collaborate with Sponsorship Committee for recruiting event sponsors.
  • Assist DeMarse to ensure the website and marketing materials are accurate.
  • Assist on-site the day of the golf tournament, ensure registration and name tags are set up.
  • Greet, register, and instruct players as they arrive.
  • Collect any fees still due and sell raffle tickets.
  • Field questions from members, Interact with players.
  • Perform announcements.
  • Put up signage for hole sponsors.
  • Ensure food and beverage are delivered.
  • Thank sponsors.
  • Assist with awards presentation, etc.

Time: 

  • Average 3-4 hours monthly, June-September, for planning
  • All day during the tournament for 2 volunteers
  • 2 hours at the start of the tournament for 2 volunteers to manage registration.

St. Louis Golf Tournament Subcommittee

Description:

The St. Louis Golf Tournament Networking Committee plans the annual golf outing for the Greater Heartland Chapter in St. Louis.

St. Louis Golf Tournament Networking Committee members are a mix of provider-related and non-provider-related individuals, ideally from the St. Louis and surrounding area. Networking committee, golf tournament, event planning, or sponsorship experience is helpful but NOT required.

Activities:

  • Plan and execute a full day golf tournament.
  • Collaborate with Sponsorship Committee for recruiting event sponsors.
  • Assist DeMarse to ensure the website and marketing materials are accurate.
  • Assist on-site the day of the golf tournament.
  • Ensure registration and name tags are set up.

Description:
The Membership Committee recruits new members to HFMA and ensures new members feel welcome and settled upon first joining HFMA.

Membership Committee members are a mix of provider-related and non-provider-related individuals from across the state of Missouri. Membership committee, Enterprise membership, HFMA national and chapter resources, or mentorship knowledge or experience is helpful but NOT required.

Activities:

  •  Develop and implement a recruiting and retention plan that aligns with national initiatives
  • Work with the Networking, Enterprise and Education Committees to ensure that activities and programs are aligned with the goals of membership growth and retention
  • Welcome new members to HFMA and the Greater Heartland Chapter
  •  Develop and maintain a mentorship or buddy program for new or less experienced members
  • Meet up with new members and be a familiar face at their first few events
  • Answer member questions
  • Provide HFMA 101 sessions for members

Time:

  •  Average 1-2 hours monthly, year round

The Role of Summer Program Committee

Description:

The Summer Program Committee plans and implements the annual educational revenue cycle one day event for the Greater Heartland Chapter in the Springfield area.

The Summer Programming Committee members are a mix of provider-related and non-provider-related individuals with a variety of experience but an emphasis on revenue cycle. Ideally volunteers are from the Springfield and surrounding area. Program committee, event planning, basic CPE requirements, or sponsorship knowledge or experience is helpful but NOT required.

Activities:

  • Plan and implement one live full or half day educational event.
  • Brainstorm and solicit program topics.
  • Secure speakers and speakers form from presenters.
  • Collaborate with Sponsorship Committee for recruiting event sponsors.
  • Assist DeMarse with venue selection and ensure the website, marketing, and presentation materials are accurate.
  • Assist on-site the day of the event to check in registrants, hand out name tags, perform announcements, introduce presenters, field questions from members, help ensure AV is working, food and beverage are delivered, thank sponsors, etc.

Time:

  • Average 1-2 hours monthly, April through July for planning

The Role of Fall Program Committee

Description:

The Fall Program Committee plans and implements the Annual Greater Heartland multi-day conference, the chapter’s largest and most well attended event.

Fall Conference Programming Committee members are a mix of provider-related and non-provider-related individuals with a variety of experience such as finance, revenue cycle, contract management, human resources, etc. to help pick topics that are relevant and of interest to the chapter members. Volunteers are from across the state of Missouri. Program committee, event planning, basic CPE requirements, or sponsorship knowledge or experience is helpful but NOT required.

Activities:

  • Plan and implement a live multi (usually 2 ½) day event that includes general keynote speakers, finance tracks and revenue cycle tracks.
  • Approve the budget established by DeMarse.
  • Assist DeMarse with venue selection.
  • Brainstorm and solicit program topics.
  • Determine event agenda.
  • Determine and schedule the networking events, collaborating with the Networking Committee
  • Secure speakers and speakers forms from presenters
  • Solicit sponsors, collaborating with the Sponsorship Committee
  • Ensure DeMarse has the appropriate information to market and execute events (the website, marketing, and presentation materials are accurate)
  • Assist on-site throughout the event to check in registrants, hand out name tags, perform announcements, introduce presenters, field questions from members, help ensure AV is working, food and beverage are delivered, thank sponsors, etc.
  • DeMarse is contracted to be on-site during the event to help with these duties and ensure the conference runs smoothly.

Time:

  • Average 2-4 hours monthly, May-October, for planning
  • All day throughout the conference

The Role of the Winter Program Committee

Description:

The Winter Programming Committee plans and implements a live educational event for individuals outside of the Kansas City and St. Louis metropolitan areas, one of which is the PMG session during the annual MHA meeting. These locations could include, but are not limited to, Columbia, Cape Girardeau, and Lake of the Ozarks.

Committee members are a mix of provider-related and non-provider-related individuals with a variety of experience such as finance, revenue cycle, contract management, human resources, etc. to help pick topics that are relevant and of interest to the chapter members. Ideally volunteers are from outside of the Kansas City and St. Louis metropolitan areas. Program committee, event planning, basic CPE requirements, or sponsorship knowledge or experience is helpful but NOT required.

Activities:

  • Plan and implement one live full or half day educational event.
  • Collaborate with MHA contact to plan and implement the PMG session during the annual MHA Annual Conference.
  • Brainstorm and solicit program topics.
  • Secure speakers and speakers form from presenters.
  • Collaborate with Sponsorship Committee for recruiting event sponsors.
  • Assist DeMarse with venue selection and ensure the website, marketing, and presentation materials are accurate.
  • Assist on-site the day of the event to check in registrants, hand out name tags, perform announcements, introduce presenters, field questions from members, help ensure AV is working, food and beverage are delivered, thank sponsors, etc.

  • Average 1-2 hours monthly, year round

The Role of Spring Program Committee

Description:

The Spring Conference Program Committee plans and implements the Annual Greater Heartland Multi-Day Conference.

Description:

The Networking Committee provides social and networking opportunities for our members looking to establish mutually beneficial relationships encompassing a variety of work/life experiences.

Networking Committee members are a mix of provider-related and non-provider-related individuals from across the state of Missouri. Networking committee, event planning, sponsorship, or program experience is helpful but NOT required.

Activities:

  • Organize four networking events throughout the year (happy hours, holiday event, etc)
  • Organize events in conjunction with the spring and fall educational conferences 
  • Collaborate with Sponsorship Committee for recruiting event sponsors
  • Assist DeMarse with venue selection and ensure the website and marketing materials are accurate
  • Assist on-site with live events to perform announcements, field questions from members, help ensure AV is working, food and beverage are delivered, registration and name tags are set up, thank sponsors, etc.

Time:

  • Average 1-2 hours monthly, year round

Description:

The Sponsorship Committee identifies vendors in the market with an interest in promoting their company to the Greater Heartland Chapter’s membership. We strive to find a variety of benefit options to fit the needs and budget constraints of potential chapter sponsors. We also coordinate with chapter leadership and members to communicate the value and commitment our chapter sponsors provide.

Sponsorship Committee members are a mix of provider-related and non-provider-related individuals from across the state of Missouri. Sponsorship committee, solicitation, networking, or program experience is helpful but NOT required.

Activities: 

  • Plan and execute an annual sponsorship campaign
  • Determine the sponsorship benefit packages
  • Solicit sponsors
  • Coordinate delivery of benefits with DeMarse
  • Verify logos and materials are received
  • Coordinate and verify website promotion, electronic media promotion, and signage at events
  • Monitor the sponsors utilization of the benefits and satisfaction
  • Regularly follow up with chapter leadership and the sponsors to help ensure both the chapter and sponsors needs are being met.

Time:

  • Average 15-25 hours of service during the year, with a concentration of time during the annual sponsorship campaign (July – January). This time will be spent coordinating the sponsorship brochure with DeMarse’s help, compiling a list of business partners for outreach, and soliciting those vendors, periodic check in with the vendors throughout the year in addition to various other items that may come up. One person from this committee will be expected to attend (listen in to) the overall programming group calls which are monthly (to help ensure sponsors are provided adequate speaking opportunities), and one person on this committee will be expected to coordinate with the networking committee periodically as well.
