Welcome to a new HFMA Chapter, Empire New York! Consisting of the previous Chapters: Central New York, Hudson Valley New York, Northeastern New York and Western New York.
President’s Welcome
There is so much to report on and even more to come since we began our Chapter year on June 1st. The Empire NY Chapter has a plethora of activities planned with the hope many of you can join us for both fun and education! Please continue to monitor our website for announcements on upcoming events and information.
This Chapter is geared around its members who are the heart of the Chapter, and the leadership team is here to serve YOU. Many members of your leadership team just returned from attending the HFMA Annual Conference. There was a great deal of planning done during this conference as the group gathered ideas for events, Chapter operations and Regional planning they believe will benefit its membership. The members of the Leadership Team who attended the conference were Sarah Brainard, Joe Favata, Tim Hammond, Sarah Spindler, Celia Allen, Christina Santullo and myself, with Joe and Sarah attending the leadership sessions
The Annual Conference is a premier event open to everyone. If you have not been able to attend one to date, please make it a priority to do so – you will be glad you did! This year’s conference was held at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville and included a private concert at the Grand Ole Opry where cowboy boots and hats were fashion statements! The educational sessions were very informative with topics that ranged from “Understanding Body Language” to Technology and “Women in Revenue Cycle”. All sessions were very well attended, and members obtained valuable information while socializing, networking and enjoying the comradery with their fellow HFMA members. The only downside of the entire trip were the travel problems caused by storms and some airline issues.
As we head into our Chapter year some of the upcoming events are:
- Day at the Track, August 25, 2023
- Legislative Update, Date in September, 2023 to be determined
- CDM Training, January 25, 2024
- Holiday Event, Date in January, 2024 to be determined
- Annual Institute Tentatively Scheduled for April 10, 2024
In addition to these dates there is so much more to come, including pop-up socials, Regional and Chapter webinars and the Region 2 Conference on October 11-13, 2023.

But please remember, a committee isn’t a committee without members. If you are interested in receiving additional information on any of our committees and how you might be able to help, no matter how little or how much you can do, please reach out to me and I will connect you with the Chair of that committee. The more hands we have the more we can offer to you, our members. We have a sizeable chapter and so many have already volunteered to help in various ways. Looking forward to a spectacular year!
As we throw ourselves into enjoying our summer whether it is travel, relaxing by the pool, catching up on some good books, gardening, golf or whatever you enjoy, remember Empire NY Chapter and its leaders are here to serve you.
It is an honor to serve as your President and I look forward to the value that this consolidation has already brought, and will continue to bring to everyone.
