President’s Welcome

Aloha and mahalo to our Immediate Past President, Tammy Dumalo, for her exceptional leadership during Fiscal Year 2025–2026. Under her guidance, our chapter came together as one team to deliver a successful Revenue Cycle Seminar and Annual Conference, strengthening our commitment to healthcare finance professionals across Hawaiʻi.
Tammy’s theme, “I Kū Mau Mau,” meaning to stand together in unity and purpose, served as a powerful reminder that our greatest accomplishments are achieved when we work collectively. As we begin Fiscal Year 2026–2027, we proudly carry that spirit forward and build upon it with this year’s theme, “Hiki Nō” or in other words, “Can Do.”
Hiki nō reflects a mindset of possibility, determination, and action. It reminds us that challenges can become opportunities, obstacles can become pathways, and together we can accomplish extraordinary things. Whether advancing innovation in healthcare finance, mentoring future leaders, or strengthening our professional community, the message is simple: if we work together, we can do it.
Representing this year’s theme is the magnificent ʻiwa bird, or great frigatebird. For generations, the ʻiwa has been recognized as a skilled navigator, guiding voyagers across vast oceans while always remaining connected to its home. It symbolizes vision, resilience, and leadership qualities that will guide our chapter as we navigate an ever-changing healthcare landscape while remaining firmly rooted in the values and traditions that define our island community.
I am honored to serve as President of the HFMA Hawaii Chapter and excited to work alongside our dedicated members and Hawaii Chapter Board of Directors. Our Board is comprised of talented professionals representing healthcare organizations from across the state. These accomplished leaders bring diverse perspectives, expertise, and a shared commitment to advancing our mission of education, professional development, and service. This year offers tremendous opportunities for growth, partnership, and impact, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish together.
Whether through local educational programs, insights from our national HFMA network, updates on healthcare trends and regulatory changes, networking opportunities, or community service initiatives, your Board is committed to providing value and support to our members throughout the year.
We have an exciting year ahead and invite you to join us at our upcoming events. Our Revenue Cycle Seminar will be held on November 10, 2026, followed by the 2027 Western Region Symposium, hosted in partnership with the New Mexico Chapter, from January 24–27, 2027, at Paris Las Vegas. We will then come together for our Annual Conference on April 7–9, 2027. In addition, we will offer networking and community service opportunities throughout the year. Be sure to watch for Save-the-Date announcements and visit the Hawaii In-Person Events page for the latest updates.
As we embark on this new chapter together, I invite each of you to embrace the spirit of Hiki Nō. Let us continue building connections, creating opportunities, and shaping the future of healthcare finance in Hawaiʻi. By working together, supporting one another, and remaining committed to excellence, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
Mahalo for your continued support and dedication to the HFMA Hawaii Chapter. I look forward to seeing you throughout the year!
