President’s Welcome

My message is one of deep gratitude, genuine pride, and strong conviction. South Carolina HFMA has a long-standing and well-earned tradition of excellence and innovation, built through the dedication, passion, and leadership of those who came before us and those who serve today. It is a privilege to be part of an organization that consistently raises the bar and remains forward-thinking while staying grounded in its core values.
As an organization, we have made it our mission to maintain a clear and intentional focus on meaningful, value-added activities that directly support the members we serve and, ultimately, the patients they impact every day. Our work is guided by a commitment to relevance and purpose—ensuring that our programs, initiatives, and partnerships deliver real benefit and lasting value.
We strive to achieve a thoughtful and consistent balance of education, community service, mentorship, networking, and family. These pillars are not only central to our programming, but they also define what we choose to represent and, frankly, who we are as a chapter. They reflect our belief that professional growth, personal connection, and service to others are interconnected.
My personal mission is to embrace, clearly communicate, and continue to expand upon this incredible legacy. I am committed to doing so through collaboration, transparency, and purposeful action, guided by the collective strength of our all-inspiring executive team and dedicated committee members. Together, we will honor our past, serve our members with excellence in the present, and boldly shape the future of South Carolina HFMA.
Lastly, I want to give a special thank you to my wife, Karen, daughter, Erica, son, Wes, and my three grandsons, Jaylen, Ja’Vionne, and Jeremiah, for being my North Star. Your constant encouragement, patience, and unwavering belief have been the foundation that allows me to serve, lead, and give back with purpose. Everything I strive to accomplish is rooted in the values we share and the example we set together.
With love and gratitude…
Eric Summers
