Welcome to Region 8

We are the entry into the HFMA group of chapters known as Region 8! If you are somewhere where people are amazing, the healthcare financial management education is top of the line, and the skies are not cloudy all day, you are probably in Region 8. This website serves as the hub for all of the following statewide chapters: Iowa, Greater Heartland (Missouri), Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Sunflower (Kansas).

Welcome to Midwest Nice!

While members of the seven Region 8 chapters will happily welcome you to one of their chapter’s educational events or reach out to new members to invite them to get involved in a committee, don’t mistake our nice for lazy! Region 8 produces multiple award winning chapters year after year.

Since the inception of the Robert M. Shelton Award for Sustained Chapter Excellence in 1980 – the highest award for a chapter – HFMA bestowed that award on Region 8 chapters 7 times! The bar for excellence is high in Region 8, and that is why as its leaders, we are committed to continuous improvement and service to chapters. Regional Executives are elected into a three year track by Chapter leaders and work together as a leadership team across the region to insure that all chapters are connected to the resources they need to lead the financial management of health care. The RE team also chairs the Mid America Summer Institute planning committee.

Serving over 6,400 healthcare professionals, the seven Region 8 Chapters collaborate to plan and develop both an annual regional conference and monthly webinars. Chapter programming is your resource for even more education and training, and the region hopes you find it easy to identify and pursue that education and training from this hub. Each chapter’s website is embedded within this website to make it easy to see what else is happening in this most friendly part of the country. We encourage you to get to know those chapters and what makes them unique!

HFMA Region 8’s Mid America Summer Institute (MASI) is an annual conference organized by seven of the mid-west chapters of HFMA (Greater Heartland, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Sunflower).

The conference brings together 400+ healthcare professionals who work in hospitals, health plans, physician practices and others healthcare settings creating an environment to educate, connect and motivate!
